Swap to stop

The council’s Stop Smoking Hub has helped spread the word… Swap to Stop at a recent event.

The council’s Stop Smoking Hub’s Swap to Stop initiative was held at Darlington Memorial Hospital to encourage people to try vaping to help them quit smoking cigarettes for good.

The team spoke to people smoking cigarettes outside the front of the hospital and handed out vapes.

Councillor Mathew Roche, the council’s cabinet member for health said “The Swap to Stop event at Darlington Memorial Hospital far exceeded our expectations. The team spoke to 60 people and encouraged them to stub out the cigarette they were smoking and swap to try a vape. They gave out 48 Vapes – all their stock! I do hope the swaps are permanent.”
