Get ready to be active this Easter with a host of free sports and fun for all the fanily in the Market Square.

Move More Monday will see a host of sports clubs come together in the Market Square on Monday 14 April from 11am-4pm to promote the benefits of physical activity with free fun for all the family.

The sports day themed event will include the chance to try your hand at a range of free sports and activities including a climbing wall, mini golf, table football and sporting challenges. There will also be face painting and free arts and crafts.

Among the clubs supporting the event are Darlington Storm basketball club; the YMCA; Darlington Steam American football club; Hundens Green community bowls club; Cleveland orienteering club (CLOK ); Platform Perform; Martin Gray football academy; Darlington cricket club and Darlington rugby club.

There will be a chance to talk to the clubs about what they offer and try your hand at some of their activities.

Matt Roche, cabinet member for health and housing, said: “Move More Mondays are always popular and I hope lots of people will come down and have a go at some new activities for free!

“This is a great way to find out about some of the great teams and clubs in the area and to try your hand at a new hobby!”

Meanwhile there is lots more Easter holiday fun at Darlington Libraries for children of all ages, with a mix of free and paid for sessions from Monday 14 April to Saturday 26 April.

The packed programme will include a Spring into Space VR experience; magic shows; science; movie making and coding workshops; an animated egg hunt; a visit by Zoolab; Identity Theatre workshops; story and craft sessions. There will also be special Easter parties and Rhymetime adventures.
