If you want to learn a new skill, take the next step in your career or try your hand at something different come to the free skills booster event on Tuesday 10 June.

The event in the Market Square, will run from 4-8pm, and is aimed at adults of all ages. Talk to learning and skills providers about local opportunities to grow your career, learn something new and develop your personal and professional skills.

There will be more than 40 exhibitors at the event including education and training providers, support services and employers. There will also be free sessions on transferable skills, employability and CV writing as well as practical employability activities such as HGV driving simulations and online learning.

It’s not just about finding work or changing jobs, there will be the chance to find out about new hobbies and opportunities to learn new skills in your free time.

Chris McEwan, cabinet member for economy, said: “If you have ever thought about learning a language or taking up a new hobby then this skills booster event is for you. There will be people on hand to inspire and give you the confidence to try something new. If you are thinking about changing career or starting your own business, our experts can give you the practical advice you need.

“The event has been organised in the evening so I hope as many people as possible come along and see how they can boost their skills and make a positive change to their lives.”
