Your chance to make a difference to the community

Your chance to make a difference to the community
25 January 2017

A host of voluntary and charity organisations are coming together to celebrate what they do and encourage more people to make a difference in the community.

Darlington’s first volunteering fair takes place on Thursday 2 February from 2-6pm at Central Hall, the Dolphin Centre.

A total of 44 organisations working with the environment, health, employment, children and older people will be at the event telling people what they do and how they can help.

Seth Pearson,  One Darlington Partnership which has organised the event, said: “The volunteering fair started with our #makeadifferencedarlo campaign where we asked people to let us know what they are doing in the community. We had an astonishing response and it showed us that volunteers in Darlington come from all walks of life but are linked by the tremendous contribution they make to our community.

“The volunteering fair is a unique opportunity for people to find out what so many tremendous organisations are already doing throughout the Borough and what they can do to help.

“I would urge anyone who is interested in volunteering and helping our community in any way, big or small, to pop along on the day. I would also like to thank Darlington Building Society and the County Durham Community Foundation for sponsoring this event.”
