PARKING is set to become as easy as one, two, free over the festive period in Darlington.
From Thursday 23 November until Tuesday 2 January, car park users in Darlington can stay longer and save money in selected council-run car parks.
A “three hours for the price of two” offer will apply in the following car parks: Abbotts Yard, Archer Street, Commercial Street East & West, Feethams Multi Storey, Hird St, Kendrew Street East & West, Park Place East & West, St Hilda’s, Winston North & South.
In addition, parking is available for £2 for a full day in East Street car park. Offers do not apply to on-street pay and display bays.
Darlington residents can also take advantage of special bus ticket offers from Arriva with two unlimited travel tickets around the town for £5 (normal price £3.50 each). Those coming in from further afield can get two Darlington District tickets for £8.50 (normally £5.80 each). These tickets are available to purchase on buses from 23 November to 2 January.
Councillor Nick Wallis, Darlington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Leisure, said:
“Christmas is always a strain on the family budget and these parking offers will help make money stretch even further. They are a great incentive to stay longer in Darlington, explore the shops and perhaps take time out to grab a bite to eat and relax. Our offers coincide with the big lights switch on and late night shopping, making it even easier to get into Darlington and enjoy what’s on offer.
“With its great range of independent shops, indoor market and national retailers, Darlington is a great place to shop. Additional travel offers from Arriva makes it even cheaper to get into town, even enjoy a drink or two and not worry about driving home.”
