Make your nominations for the Vibe Awards!
28 June 2018

NOMINATIONS are open for this year’s Vibe Awards – celebrating the very best of young people in Darlington.

This year’s awards ceremony is taking place during the first ever Vibe Fest on Saturday 4 August. Vibe Fest is going to be an outdoor event celebrating all that is great about growing up in Darlington.

The market square will be filled with fun and exciting activities for children and young people to take part in but the main focus will be the stage where the Vibe Awards ceremony will take place, along with entertainment supplied by local bands.

Everyone nominated receives a Vibe Award, however nominations will be shortlisted by a panel led by young people and the award sponsors. Special awards will go to the most inspiring nominations.

The people of Darlington are encouraged to think of young people they know who have made great achievements in the past year. The awards are as much about recognising the distance young people have travelled as the outcome of their efforts.

To nominate a young person visit www.clicktodo.co.uk or email [email protected]
Nominations are open until Friday 13 July.

The Categories, all for ages 10 – 19, are:

  • Contribution to the Community
  • Contribution to the Arts
  • Achievement Against the Odds in Life
  • Achievement Against the Odds in Learning.

In the last 11 years of the Vibe Awards, more than 3,100 children and young people have been recognised for the tremendous steps they have taken to achieve their goals, change their lives and those around them.

Previous nominees have achieved much, such as completing a charity cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats and being youth leaders for Rainbow, Brownie and Guide groups and being an inspiration to other youngsters.

Darlington’s Youth MP Francis Humble said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight young people in a positive light and show what an important role they play right across the borough.

“I am thrilled to have been asked to help shortlist the nominations and look forward to sharing some of our young people’s inspiring stories at Vibe Fest in August.”

The awards are sponsored by Latimer Hinks Solicitors and Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, with more sponsors expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
