Middleton St George Conservation Area Draft Appraisal
Under section 69 (1) of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 (as amended), every local planning authority:
- shall from time to time determine which parts of their area are areas of special architectural or historic interest the character or appearance of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance, and
- shall designate those areas as conservation areas.
Darlington Borough Council has carried out an appraisal for Middleton St George and its setting which focusses on the following aspects:
- The special architectural and historic interest of the area;
- The current condition of the area, any problems or threats to it, and opportunities for beneficial change;
- Suggestions for proposed conservation area boundary lines.
You can have your say on the appraisal until 5pm on Monday 24 February by visiting our conservation webpage where the aprasial can be read online.
You can also read the appraisal and fill in a feedback form at the Town Hall (by appointment only email [email protected]), and at Darlington and Cockerton libraries.
