What is All About Me, for children

Creative life story work logo

All About Me is a creative space to help you to understand who you are today, explore what's happening right now, and give you the opportunity to tell us your hopes and dreams for the future.

What are Creative Experiences?

You will have the chance to take part in All About Me Creative Experience session, alongside a trusted adult (such as
your foster carer or social worker). You will also be supported in these sessions by an amazing Artist and a Pastoral Support Worker.

There will be six All About Me Creative Experience sessions in total, as well as an introductory session, each lasting ninety minutes.

From September 2022 sessions will either take place online or face to face. During the sessions you will be supported to think about the following themes:

  • Who am I?
  • What are my favourite things?
  • How do I feel?
  • Who is in my life?
  • Who do I live with?
  • What plans do I have for the future?

You can choose how much or how little you share in these sessions. You will have the chance to create something to document your involvement and keep forever, too.

Other children and young people, and their supporting adults, will be there too in the session. There will be up to fifteen children / young people and adults present.

Before taking part, you will find out which artist you are working with and have a chance to watch a video about them. We will make the sessions as accessible for you and your trusted adult as possible.

Before sessions start

Once you know which artist will be working with take 5 minutes to sit down and watch the lovely video they have created below;

You will be given a creative pack with all the materials you need for each of the session. This creative pack is really important and needed for every session, so make sure you keep it safe between sessions and have it to hand at the start of every sessions.

Once the 6 sessions are finished you will be able to keep everything you’ve created and all the arts & crafts materials in the pack!

After each session

After each session if you need to talk about anything you can talk to your trusted adult or Social Worker.

If you have the Mind Of My Own app [external link] why not send you Social Worker a little message to tell them how it’s all going!

You will have the choice to share what you have created with your social worker and independent reviewing officer.

At the end of the 6 week block it will be great to know what you have enjoyed or what we could to improve them.
