This event brings together a variety of traders, craft experts and enthusiasts, offering a day with wool-related activities and shopping. Explore a wide range of wool products, from beautiful yarns to handmade garments and accessories.

Take part in hands on craft workshops, watch demonstrations and meet talented artisans showcasing their skills.

Amaranth Angora - luxury angora yarns from the Scottish Borders, in a range of hand dyed and natural colours. With fibre ethically sourced from my much-loved pet rabbits and others in Britain, I draw my inspiration from nature and the landscape around us. 

The Border Mill A range of hand-dyed yarns in natural fibres, inspired by the culture and landscapes that surround us. We'll have individual balls/skeins of yarn, as well as kits and sets. Processed and spun in the Scottish Borders.

 doultonborderleicesteryarn.com We supply slaughter free rare breed yarn in 4 ply and DK in 28 colours in 100 g skeins and 25 g mini skeins and aran in 9 colours in 100 g skeins.We also supply knitting knits pattern books and knitted garments.

Durham Guild of Spinners, Weavers & Dyers exists to promote and preserve the textile crafts of spinning, weaving, dyeing and other related crafts e.g. felting. We are affiliated to the National Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers and are a registered charitable organisation. We hold monthly meetings on the 1st Saturday of every month in Durham, at which we offer a warm welcome to new members at all levels of experience, including absolute beginners.

Helen Hardy Art is a textile artist living in North Yorkshire. She creates wildlife and landscape pictures through freemotion embroidery, wools and fabrics.

Jill Blakey - Wool and fibre

Mandy Bond Wool and Yarn is a Darlington-based retailer specialising in high-quality wool, yarn, and crafting supplies, offering a diverse range of products from brands like James C Brett, Wendy Wools, and Cygnet Yarns. They cater to knitters and crocheters of all skill levels, providing materials in various weights (DK, Aran, Chunky) for projects like blankets, sweaters, and accessories.

Natural Born Dyers naturally dyed yarns, with a focus on the finer weights, together with a range of hand-turned wooden accessories for knitters and spinners. They are based in the County Durham village of Esh Winning.

RR Woodcraft - I carve both in the round (3D) and on the flat as well as turn wooden bowls, boxes and ornaments and attach a few pictures of examples of my work for you. 

Red Robin Mixed Media and Textiles We use locally sourced wool fibres from North Yorkshire and produce felted landscapes and floral embroidery. Botanical cast are also handmade using fresh flowers and an array of painting media.  

Rock a bye baby We are a North East family run business having been retailing wool/yarn and baby products for approximately 26 years.  Our shop is open Monday to Thursday to the public, then we attend markets Friday, Saturday and the odd Sunday as well as being online and on Social media.  We pride ourselves on bringing the best value, quality yarns to our customers selling a range of leading yarns from James C Brett, King Cole, West Yorkshire Spinners, Stylecraft, Woolcraft and more as well as many accessories needed to complete your project. We also sell a large range of associated wool products such as cross stitch kits, tapestry kits, rug making and clippy mat kits, felt making kits and other craft products such as diamond art. Add to that our range of hand made items which compliment our yarns from hats, cardigans, blankets so you can see how a particular yarn works up, to knitting bags, boxes and so much more.

The Woolmouse a small independent retailer stocking a hand picked range of commercial & hand dyed yarns, including our own brand Lovehandyed by David. We also carry a full range of accessories and woolly associated products, crochet kits & related gifts.

Drop In Activities and Learning

Darlington Library will be joined by the Darlington Wool Spinners group who will be demonstrating the ancient tradition of spinning, you can also try it yourself. Our local studies department will providing historic information about Darlington’s wool trade and how it helped finance the railway industry. Pom Pom making will be available to our younger visitors and there will also be the chance to crochet personalised squares to form part of a huge, knitted blanket that will go on display in the library once complete.

The Wigglypath Company learn some tapestry skills and have a go at this craft, make your own mini tapestry piece (limited numbers)

Teesdale Felt, founded by felt artist Claire Priestley in 2019, is based near Barnard Castle in County Durham. We deliver bespoke felting workshops for individuals & organisations and offer a unique collection of original felt artworks. Come and create your own flower brooch.
