What is a Neighbourhood Planning referendum?
Neighbourhood planning helps local communities play a direct role in planning.
Residents can use the Neighbourhood Plan to take part in planning application decisions.
The plan shows how the community wants to develop the area.
The community has the final say on whether a Neighbourhood Plan or order comes into force.
If more than 50% of people voting in the referendum support the plan, then the local planning authority must bring it into force.

Declaration of Result
The votes were counted following the close of poll on Thursday, 11th August 2022. The result was declared by Luke Swinhoe, the Counting Officer, who declared that more than half of those voting had voted in favour of the Middleton St. George Neighbourhood Plan - Declaration of Result
