UK Parliamentary (General) Election - 12 December 2019

Parliament was dissolved on Wednesday 6 November 2019, following Royal Assent being given to the Early Parliamentary General Election Act 2019, on 31 October 2019. On Thursday 12 December 2019, voters across the country, including in the Darlington and Sedgefield constituencies, will go to the polls to elect Members of Parliament to represent their constituencies in the House of Commons. 

Polling Stations will be in operation throughout the Borough on Thursday 12 December 2019 from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm. If you are already registered to vote, you should have received a Poll Card on, or around, the 14 November 2019, giving you further details on your polling station.

Electoral Registration for the forthcoming UK Parliamentary Election has now closed (the deadline to register for this election was 11:59pm on Tuesday, 26 November 2019), however if you are not registered you are still able to register to vote in future elections. You can register onlinevia the Government's Website, or contact the Elections Office.

It is no longer possible to apply for a Postal Vote; a Postal Proxy Vote; or a Proxy Vote for the forthcoming UK Parliamentary Election (the deadlines for such applications for this election have now elapsed). If after 5pm on Wednesday, 4th December 2019, you are unable to vote in person because you have a medical emergency, or learn that you cannot go to the Polling Station because of work reasons, you can apply for an 'Emergency Proxy'. Completed applications must reach us before 5pm on Thursday, 12th December 2019. To find out how to apply, please call the helpline immediately.
