Statement of Community Involvement
The Council's current Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) (Part 1) was adopted on the 28 July 2016 with Part 2 being adopted on 1 August 2018.
About the SCI
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) (Part 1) sets out how Darlington Borough Council will involve local communities, businesses and important stakeholders in the preparation of the Local Plan and any future Development Plan Documents’ (DPD’s) or Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD’s).
Darlington Council adopted its first SCI in November 2005, and it was later reviewed in July 2010. Following the introduction of the Localism Act 2011, the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), and amendments to the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations in 2012, a second review was required. Part 1 supersedes the SCI insofar as it relates to Local Plans; the remainder of the SCI 2010 relating to Development Management, remains extant.
