Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice (Level 3)

MB of Darlington are an independent Mercedes servicing specialists based in Darlington. We have been servicing and repairing Mercedes for over 15 years and provide the same high and exacting standard of Mercedes servicing as franchised main dealers but at a fraction of the cost. Our high level of service helps to deliver inspired confidence, as our company offers excellent customer service and our technicians undergo continual training, to ensure that they have the latest Mercedes Benz technical expertise for maintaining and servicing your car.

The successful applicant will be required to assist and support other members of staff with the garage, perform general housekeeping duties and be productive carrying out maintenance and repair of light vehicles. They will be expected to be punctual, reliable and willing to learn new skills. As a Light Vehicle Apprentice, your day to day duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting other technicians with vehicle maintenance, repairs and servicing
  • Assisting with keeping the workshop clean and tidy
  • Shadowing workplace mentor for a variety of tasks
  • Develop and build hand skills
  • Learning to maintain and repair customers vehicles
  • Speaking with customers to ensure they are aware of work being carried out on their vehicle
  • Contact parts supplies for price and availability

Training

Training will be provided to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in maths, English and ICT (as required)

Training will take place periodically at our training centre in Darlington (DL1 4QZ) and/or remotely as required. Here you will learn the theory elements of the course, gaining the knowledge  required to complete the qualification.

The apprenticeship is subject to an End Point Assessment that will involve and interview and presentation with an independent assessor.

Progression

This position could lead to full time employment and/or progression to related Motor Vehicle courses.

Red Hall Primary School have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice to support the administration team and the School Business Manager to undertake a range of general clerical duties, including financial administration. Candidates will need to possess both initiative and sensitivity and be proven effective team members.

The post holder will be expected to undertake the following duties:

  • To undertake typing and word-processing accurately and in a timely manner as required by Senior Staff
  • To deal with all enquiries and ensure that they are dealt with effectively and efficiently e.g. answering routine queries and taking messages where appropriate
  • Provide routine administrative support duties including the transmission of faxes, emails, photocopying, filing, completion of forms, registers, educational visits, selling uniform, extended schools and supporting staff with presentation events
  • To carry out and maintain filing and develop and maintain spreadsheets or databases containing financial and non-financial information, and to liaise with examination and data administrators
  • To support senior staff and school with hospitality and presentation
  • To undertake routine clerical tasks and reprographics requirements in order to support the administrative processes carried out in the school office
  • To assist with the maintenance of manual and computerised records / management information systems
  • To participate in telephone and reception service in accordance with school security procedures regarding access and entry to the premises, dealing with personal and telephone callers in a courteous and efficient manner
  • To liaise with members of the public, suppliers, schools and other external stakeholders
  • To carry out maintenance and updates to the school web site, ensuring all data is always up to date and current
  • To undertake routine financial administration e.g. collecting and recording school trips money etc.
  • To sort incoming and outgoing mail and distribute across the school as appropriate
  • To ensure that visitors to the school are received courteously and punctually
  • To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training
  • To assist with pupil first aid / welfare, including looking after unwell pupils and liaising with parents / staff etc
  • To comply with Health and Safety policies, organisations statements and procedures, report any incidents/accidents/hazards and take proactive approach to health and safety matters in order to protect both yourself and others
  • To assist in maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations and policy
  • To respect the confidential nature of the work and protect personal information in accordance with data protection regulations and policies in place
  • To develop an understanding of varying policies and procedures within the school, complying with their contents and raising concerns as appropriate
  • To carry out your duties with full regard to the Council’s Equality Policy and Race Equality Scheme
  • Any other duties of a similar nature related to the post which may be required from time to time

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a small, family business in their local office alongside their existing admin. This role will include engaging with customers and clients to provide excellent customer service and support with bookings for arranging installation dates to install electric fires, gas fires, stoves, fireplaces and chambers. Your day to day duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Client contact / queries
  • Preparation of client paperwork
  • General administration
  • Dealing with personal information, client queries and filing them correctly
  • Transferring and updating existing client data
  • Using basic Microsoft packages
  • Reception duties
