Darlington Choral Society

The Darlington Choral Society is a friendly amateur choir. In our concerts we aim to give the best performances we can, and we want to encourage the joy of singing and the love of music. The Society was born out of the Darlington Choral and Orchestral Association and has existed since the middle of the nineteenth century. In 1970 the choir joined the National Federation of Music Societies, now known as Making Music, and became the Darlington Choral Society. It continues in a fine tradition of performing choral music covering both traditional and modern repertoires. Under the baton of its present Director of Music, Richard Bloodworth, the choir now has over 80 members. Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm in St Cuthbert's Church Hall in Darlington. The choir presents two main concerts each year, in late November/early December and late March/ early April, with other 'ad hoc' performances during the year for special occasions or events.
