List of streets and adopted highways map

Under Section 36(6) of the Highways Act 1980 the Council must keep a list of the streets in their area which are highways maintainable at the public expense (“adopted”). This information can be viewed by the public using the www.findmystreet.co.uk [external link] website.

The area shown pink on the map is highway which is maintainable by Darlington Borough Council at public expense. This is known as "adopted highway" and refers to maintenance responsibility. It is not necessarily an indication that the Council owns the land.

Please note that the A1(M) and A66 are the responsibility of Highways England and are shown for reference only. The extents of these roads should be confirmed with Highways England.
