Toys - small, high-powered magnets
Product description
A set of magnets supplied in a silver coloured tin. There are 26 magnetic rods and 27 magnetic balls.
Hazard
The product presents a high risk of injuries as, when tested, the small magnets were found to have a magnetic flux index greater than 50 kG² mm², with flux indexes ranging from 101 kG² mm² to 143 kG² mm², which is at least twice the maximum permissible limit. Small, high-powered magnetic products can be easily swallowed and, when ingested, have the potential to cause serious internal injuries within the gastrointestinal tract.
The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
OPSS has issued a Safety Alert for small, high-powered magnetic products which can be accessed online.
Corrective action
The products have been withdrawn from sale. The listing has been removed by the online marketplace, OnBuy.
