Skips
The Highways Act 1980 allows the Council to permit people or companies to place skips on the highway.
A company wishing to place a skip on the highway must first:
- register with the Council [pdf document]
- produce public liability insurance and a waste carriers’ licence
Only registered companies may apply for a skip licence.
You can apply for a skip licence by completing the online form below.
We need 5 days’ notice, and the licence cost is £25.00, payable when you complete the request.
For any skip licence requests with less than five days’ notice, the administration fee is £40.00.
To apply you will need to provide:
- your company name
- the registered address
- contact details
- the location of the skip
- the number of skips needed
- the date the licence is to start
You will automatically be given a 2-week permit.
