Hazard
The product presents a serious risk of fire as the plug does not meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363. As the plug does not make a proper connection with the socket, it could overheat and cause a fire. Additionally, the plug failed to meet the requirements of BS 1362 as the plug did not have any facilities for a fuse. The lack of fuse protection means that the product does not cut off electricity under fault conditions and could therefore result in the lead or appliance to overheating.
Some of the required documentation and markings were not present.
The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the or the Plugs & Sockets (Safety) Regulations 1994.
Corrective action
The product has been withdrawn from the market.
