Who is this Apprenticeship for?

This course is for any eligible candidates, who are in a recruiting job role working in consultancies, agencies, in-house for employers, embedded recruiters, or as an outsourced provider.

The purpose of this apprenticeship is to manage resourcing activities that drive the recruitment of candidates and matching them to temporary, fixed term, or permanent job positions within an organisation. Their role is to manage the end-to-end recruitment process which typically involves planning, identifying, attracting, assessing, shortlisting, and onboarding candidates to fulfil the current and future requirements of the business brief. This may include identifying those with transferrable skills with the capacity to move from the legacy carbon economy into a green economy job. They may also be required to manage the aftercare such as onboarding and timesheets of candidates and to identify new business opportunities.

An employee in this occupation will be responsible for understanding and influencing markets, organisations and individuals including researching and understanding their goals and requirements. They will use their recruitment, industry, and communication expertise to support the day-to-day delivery of recruitment for the stakeholder. They will research the marketplace to identify, source, attract and shortlist candidates for the recruitment process to fulfil the requirements of the business brief. Typically, this would involve developing written and non-written communications such as job advertisements or marketing materials, and social media. They will analyse and report on the impact of recruitment campaigns and programmes.

Are there any entry requirements?

Must be a UK citizen, or have the right of abode in the UK, or is a citizen of a country that is within the EEA and have been ordinarily resident in the UK, the EU or the EEA continuously for the previous three years before the start of learning.

Candidates will have achieved a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (C) or equivalent Level 2 in English and Mathematics.  We also offer Functional Skills English and maths at Level 1 and Level 2 for those needing to gain these qualifications prior to enrolment.

Apprentices must be employed, normally for a minimum of 30 hours, in a role that suits the skills requirements of this apprenticeship. If you are not already employed, in this type of job role, you could search our apprenticeship vacancy page at:

Unsuitable applicants will be signed posted to other areas of our service to develop transferable/ employability skills, with a view to ensuring they are suitable for other apprenticeship positions in the future.

What is the curriculum intent of this Apprenticeship?

The structure and delivery of the course curriculum will enable you to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours to reflect the needs of local and regional employers, gain qualifications and be successful in this area.

The curriculum is planned and sequenced to enable learners with previous knowledge and experience to develop the new skills needed to progress to the next stage of their career, training, education or employment.

The curriculum is flexible and responsive to learner demands and can be tailored to suit individual needs arising from any current and dynamic issues affecting their role, which can be addressed during workshop sessions.

As an apprentice you will need to be able to demonstrate knowledge and practical skills at the end of your apprenticeship training programme and understand how this reflects the needs of the local, regional and national economy.

What will the Apprenticeship cover?

The Recruiter L3 Apprenticeship will develop the knowledge and understanding of:

 

  • Types of stakeholders, including candidates, clients, internal teams and colleagues.
  • Different types of recruitment organisation, including their own organisation’s brand and service offering.
  • Stakeholder requirements.
  • Recruitment processes, techniques, and stages of the recruitment lifecycle.
  • Recruitment models, including permanent, temporary, fixed term, managed service provider (MSP) contracts, and recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) contracts.
  • Regulations, legislation, and codes of practice that impact their role and the organisation, and the implications of non-compliance.
  • External influences on the recruitment market.

  • Methods used for assessing candidates.
  • Candidate sourcing techniques.
  • Principles and techniques of candidate assessment, including assessing transferable skills to fulfil stakeholder requirements.

Develop the skills in:

 

  • Identify, progress, and convert leads into new candidates, placements, or clients.
  • Source vacancies in line with stakeholder requirements and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain stakeholder relationships and their role within the recruitment process.
  • Interpret and apply regulation and legislation, share best practice, and advise stakeholders on their application.
  • Plan and manage recruitment campaigns to attract candidates, including agreeing objectives with stakeholders and monitoring performance.
  • Research, identify and attract candidates using methods to satisfy job requirements.
  • Process, review, and progress candidate applications.
  • Create and present diverse short lists of candidates to stakeholders.
  • Inform and advise candidates on the outcome of their application at the individual stages of the recruitment process.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process for candidates, including those who require reasonable adjustments.
  • Communicate information through different media.
  • Engage with stakeholders to review recruitment processes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and improving own performance.
  • Review services provided and implemented improvements based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Place candidates into roles that match their skills and stakeholder requirements.
  • Use technology and software tools to manage information, ensuring compliance with organisation and legislation requirements.
  • Challenge poor practice and non-compliance with the recruitment process and escalate where appropriate.
  • Identify future changes in the sector that may impact the organisation, for example technology advances.
  • Interpret policies to support and promote the delivery of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace, and monitor their impact on recruitment activities.
  • Identify and apply sustainable and greener methods of working.
  • Identify and maximise opportunities to support the organisation’s business strategy.
  • Manage resources within budget requirements.
  • Respond to stakeholder complaints and escalate where appropriate.

On completion of the on-programme element of the apprenticeship you will enter gateway to the End Point Assessment, which is the final assessment. This will be conducted by an independent end point assessor who will grade the assessment.

End Point Assessment Methods

To trigger the End Point Assessment, you must have:

  • English & maths GCSE minimum grade 4 (C) or equivalent level 2 qualification proof. (apprentices aged 16-18 only)
  • Completed a showcase portfolio, demonstrating how you have met the knowledge, skills and behaviours.

The End Point Assessment consists of:

  • Presentation with Questions – 50 mins (20 mins presentation and 30 mins Q&A)
  • Professional discussion – 60 mins (underpinned with a portfolio of evidence)

This standard will be graded as Distinction, Pass or Fail

What could I do when I have finished this Apprenticeship?

You may remain in employment with your employer and / or progress to become an Affiliated Member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation. It may be gateway to further apprenticeship opportunities, such as the Team Leader (Level 3) Apprenticeship

 You will also be given information and guidance to continue onto other courses.

Where and when will I learn?

During the course you will be expected to, usually, attend work a minimum of 30 hours per week where you will learn the skills and knowledge required to continue through your qualification. You will be supported in the workplace through regular visits with your tutor and you will also be expected to come into the training centre (Coleridge Centre, DL1 5AJ) for support sessions. These sessions will allow you to complete coursework, receive instant feedback and ensure you are ready for the End Point Assessment.

This course could also be delivered remotely, utilising digital online systems for submission of coursework, receiving feedback and 1:1 support from your tutor.

This on-programme taught element will typically take 18 months, but this is based on a vocational initial assessment to determine prior learning in this area and may be reduced. The course duration is based on the apprentice working 30 hours per week but will be extended if the apprentice works less hours. The End Point Assessment will be completed within 3 months of completing the on-programme taught element.
