Found dogs
If you find a stray dog, you are required by law to find the owner or to contact the council. We will scan for a microchip and hopefully re-unite the dog with it’s owner.
You can report it to us using the online form below.
Report a lost, found or stray dog
If the dog is injured or requires medical attention please contact us immediately on 01325 406999 and we will arrange veterinary care at our kennels in Coxhoe. After 9pm, please contact your nearest veterinary practice. We work in partnership with all veterinary practices in Darlington.
You can also report it on Darlington Council Facebook Dog Warden page [external link].
If it is after 8pm, we do not offer a collection service however we do have a kennelling facility at Allington Way if you are able to take the dog there. Alternatively you can keep the dog until the next day and we can collect it from you then.
Darlington Council have four individual secure kennels which are screened, sheltered and all have access to an outdoor run. Heat lamps have been installed and the dog has access to water, food and a sleeping area whilst it is in our care. The kennels are security protected and have 24 hour CCTV.
