Council-managed allotment waiting list
To apply for an allotment you must be over 18 and live in the borough of Darlington
If you are between 16 and 18 you can apply to go on the waiting list. You will not be able to take over a plot until you are 18.
Once you have applied for an allotment, you must let us know about any change to your contact details. If we can't contact you you will be removed from the waiting list.
You can put your name down for more than one allotment waiting list, but you can only have one allotment garden.
Buddy scheme, council-managed
People helping on plots can register as a co-worker.
There can be one co-worker per plot.
They must show they have been an important part of running the plot for at least three years.
The ‘buddy’ will be put on the waiting list and, if they are at the top of the list when the plot is made available, they will be able to take over the tenancy. A buddy can be aged between 16 and 18, but they will not be able to take over a tenancy until they are over 18.
Self-managed association allotment sites (council owned, run by committee)
Due to recent increases in waiting list applications certain self-managed sites waiting lists have been suspended as they have reach capacity.
The sites which still have open waiting lists are on the online application form.
Twelve allotment sites are self-managed.
