Early career teacher (ECT) privacy notice

Who do you keep information about?

We keep information about ECTs completing their induction with Darlington Borough Council, acting in our capacity as the Appropriate Body.

Why do you keep information about me?

To enable Darlington Borough Council, acting as the Appropriate Body, to register ECTs for induction with the Teaching Regulation Agency.

We also track the ECT’s progress throughout the induction period. The processing of your personal data is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation.

These obligations are contained in the Education Act 2002 and the Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers) (England) Regulations 2012.

Who can see my information?

The Darlington Borough Council ECT Induction Team, the Teaching Regulation Agency and other Appropriate Bodies if the ECT leaves Darlington before completing their induction period.

How do you store the information you keep about me?

Information is held securely in an electronic format which can only be accessed by the ECT Induction Team.

How long do you keep information about me?

Information is held for 6 years. This information is destroyed securely when we no longer need it.

How did the Council get my personal data?

The information is collated from the ECT registration form which is completed and submitted by the ECT’s school / college.

What sort of information do you keep?

We may use the following information about you to make sure that we provide you with the right service, advice or support.

Personal data:

  • Name
  • Identification number
  • Online identifier
  • One or more factors specific to the:-
    • physical identity of a natural person
    • economic identify of a natural person
